As a Pianist

Julius Röntgen the pianist

Julius Röntgen the pianist

The Pianola Museum in Amsterdam accommodates several pianola rolls which were recorded by Julius Röntgen.

The pianola was introduced around 1900. The fully automatic version of the pianola, the reproduction piano, replays the performance of the pianist who recorded it entirely by itself. During the period 1905-1935 numerous well-known pianists and composers recorded pianola rolls.

Julius Röntgen plays:

Ludwig van Beethoven
Andante con variazioni in F major
after a theme of his own, op. 34
Rol: Philipps nr. 131, recorded by Julius Röntgen. Duration: 11’22”
